We have all heard the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away, how much truth does that saying hold ? ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ˜€

I already know about apple juice detoxifying the body of heavy metals and being good for the digestive tract prior to writing and researching for this post I had no idea there was a long list of impressive facts about the simple apple. Iย had a go at drinking pure apple juice and found a massive different in my skin.ย I hope this article inspires you to become more healthy. So take up eating an apple a day!


Breast Cancer: apples have been found to both prevent and to suppress mammary cancers in the animal model.

Liver Cancer: apple juice, apple pectin and apple peel has been experimentally confirmed to kill liver cancer.

Stomach Cancer: One of the ways in which apple constituents prevent stomach cancer is through their inhibition of Helicobacter pylori, one of the main infectious agents linked to both ulcer and gastric cancer. But apple procyanidin has also been studied for its ability to directly induce programmed cell death within stomach cancer cells.

Another proven way in which apples reduce the risk of cancer is through their ability to remove carcinogenic radioisotopes that have accumulated in our bodies.

Overweight: A human study found significant weight loss associated with a daily intake of three apples or three pears among overweight women.

Anti-Aging (Brain): Apples have been found to prevent oxidative damage and impaired maze performance, as well as decreases in cognitive performance in aging mice. Also, a study performed on mice found that apple juice actually reduced the production of pathological amyloid-beta levels (associated with Alzheimerโ€™s disease) in the mouse brain.

Influenza Infection: Over 60 years ago researchers found that the complex carbohydrates that make up apple pectin inhibit the infectivity of influenza A virus in chicken blood, as well in embryonated eggs, indicating its potential anti-influenza properties.

Apples also cleanse and detoxifies, which helps eliminate heavy metals, such as lead and mercury. There is also a lot of talk about apples helping to aid and prevent asthma which Im still unsure about and also there is ongoing research going on in labs just now using apple compounds to make anti cancer medicines. According to a Brazilian study, eating an apple before a meal helped women lose 33 percent more weight than those who didnโ€™t.

Apples have been found to be the most heavily pesticide-contaminated produce products according to The Environmental Working Group. The most common pesticides found on apples are Permethrin and DDT. Non organic apples are often waxed which is not digestible.ย  Try to buy organic apples or if you cannot, wash them thoroughly before use preferably with a fruit and vegetable wash or peel them.
