Certified health coach and natural chef, Camille Knowles, 27 from Manchester, has released her new self-help book ‘The Beauty of Eczema’, to provide fellow sufferers with what she believes is a life-changing toolkit to support and inspire others.
‘The Beauty of Eczema’ book launch has been backed by fellow sufferer, jewellery designer and model, Jade Jagger, who herself battled with the skin condition for more than 25 years. Alongside Jade, the brand’s ambassador, Consultant Dermatologist and recognised leading UK eczema expert, Dr Tim Clayton from Manchester, has also provided his support for Camille’s book.
Camille Knowles was a chronic eczema sufferer, whose condition became so debilitating that she was hospitalised. Diagnosed with eczema at six years old, the condition significantly impacted all aspects of Camille’s life, at one point leading to her becoming hospitalised and prescribed antidepressants. After 20 years battling the condition, which regularly left her with bleeding open wounds, Camille embarked on an empowering journey to heal her eczema with holistic techniques that focus on the mind, body and soul.
Now, through her book, and soon to be launched online interactive programme, Camille is hoping to build a community for fellow sufferers to find the support and advice that they need to gain control over their skin condition forever.
Camille said: “This is the book that I could have only dreamt of finding five years ago when I was at rock bottom and in desperate need of answers. My emotional journey from my lowest point to optimum health has taken years of trial and error using natural therapies and medical intervention – believe me I have tried it all!
“Ultimately I want people to know that there is hope. I understand how eczema can affect all areas of people’s lives, leaving sufferers feeling isolated and withdrawn. This is why I want the world to know about my ‘HOPE principles’ which provide a framework for healing and gaining a deeper understanding of how diet, exercise and mastering the mind can have a significant impact on controlling the condition.”
Jade Jagger, the brand’s celebrity ambassador has also successfully managed her eczema through diet, yoga, swimming and a healthy, happy lifestyle, said: “The heartbreaking thing about Camille’s story is that we both went through so many similar experiences with the condition – especially in childhood – and there is no doubt there are millions of people in the UK who have been, and are going through the same thing too.
“I know from my own experiences that dealing with eczema is the sum of many parts and that a truly holistic approach to health and wellbeing plays a significant role in understanding and managing symptoms.
“Camille’s journey is truly inspirational and the advice in her book perfectly captures the road to recovery that many sufferers will be looking for. I wish I had this toolkit available to me all those years ago.”
Consultant Dermatologist and recognised leading UK eczema expert, Dr Tim Clayton, has also provided his support for Camille’s HOPE principles. He said: “Camille’s personal account with eczema is hugely impactful and there are millions of people in the UK who will be able to relate to her experiences and the journey that she has been on.
“Sharing her story in this way really helps to bring the seriousness of the condition to the fore and provides a crucial reference point for sufferers who are in need of help and advice beyond medical treatments.
“Eczema affects 1 in 5 people in the UK and it causes significant emotional and psychological upset. I am in no doubt that Camille’s HOPE principles will help improve the overall well-being of eczema sufferers and may help to improve the severity of their eczema.”
Camille continued: “Through years of trial and error, I’ve discovered that the best way to manage my eczema is in fact to see the beauty in it – by appreciating it as my body’s way of showing me what it actually needs.
“Living in a happy environment surrounded by a supportive circle; eating whole foods; avoiding gluten, dairy and sugar; having and fulfilling passions and purposes, pampering myself with natural products and most importantly, having a positive mindset, have all helped me to live a life beyond eczema.”
